The Town of 1770 is a paradise for the water sports enthusiast.
T
he estuary of Round Hill Creek and the foreshores of Seventeen Seventy are excellent for fishing and mud-crabbing.

Windsurfing, sailing and water scooters for the kids are very popular water sports. The creek itself is a natural safe harbour for motor cruisers and yachts and the marine rescue service is always on guard should the waters over the bar become too shallow during low tide. Quite a few 'boaties' who have anchored in Round Hill Creek fell in love with the place and now live in the area or have made Seventeen Seventy their second home in which to relax.

On the seaward side rough cliffs fall down for nearly 100 feet building grottos and pools where the breakers display a never ending spectacle of power and spray. Up on the plateau there are walkways and look outs with magnificent views over the sea.

Seventeen Seventy is the departure point for the Great Barrier Reef, which is only one and a half hours by boat away. Visitors can enjoy a day on Lady Musgrave Island and experience the magnificent corals, the reef fish, turtles and sea birds nesting on the island.

There are also excursions to Bustard Head and Middle Island to enjoy the huge and spectacular, shifting sand dunes.
